Hello and welcome to part 1 of a 3-part mini-course coming out this week about how to start bringing sustainability into your work as a built environment professional.
While preparing for a job interview for a job as a project coordinator on urban rewilding (de-sealing specifically), I stumbled upon your podcast. Very interesting! I learned a lot already and am currently also reading the book by dr. Morgan Phillips.
I'd love to learn more about de-sealing cities, what your opinion is on it and am hoping to find some information on that in your course or in one of your podcasts.
Hi Alanda - that sounds awesome! Good luck with the job. Is de-sealing the same as de-paving (i.e. replacing paved surfaces with natural ones)? I think it’s such an important topic - I’ll try to do an episode on it soon. Part of de-paving is about what municipalities and large landowners can do. But it’s also about policy and encouraging households not to pave over their gardens. The next step is thinking about what replaces the paving: hopefully biodiverse semi-wild spaces instead of manicured lawns!
Yes, it's the same! Maybe I just had the wrong word for it, that's very well possible ☺️.
It would be great to hear a bit more about it from you, thank you!
