Hello,
Following the tragic Los Angelas wildfires, which have killed at least 27 people and displaced thousands, many will be asking: what happens next?
When can people rebuild their homes and return to normality? Is this even possible?
This week, I have a very timely podcast episode out. It’s a discussion with Prof. Jonathan Rosenbloom of Albany Law School. We discuss why the US planning system isn’t delivering sustainable outcomes and what can be done about it.
We also discuss the idea of ‘Sacrifice Zones’: urban areas that are returned to nature after natural disaster to build resilience and avoid future loss of life and property. It’s a contentious topic but one that is all the more relevant after the recent wildfires.
Listen to the full conversation and let me know what you think.
